Classroom Token Economy

I was recently working in a 6th grade classroom and was surprised at what a great classroom token economy system they had! The students were in charge of balancing their money sheets and had it on their desks at all times. No physical "classroom money" was handed out. Instead, they kept track on their own with a balance sheet. The teacher would simply say "fine" or "add" and then tell them how much based on what they were doing. At the end of each quarter, the teacher holds a live auction with many fun things for the class (toys, gift certificates, etc.) and they get a chance to spend their "money" there. I was so impressed with this class. Give it a try and see if it works for you!

Moss Covered Letters

I originally bought these "B & K" letters for wedding decor. Well, that's come and gone and now they have just been sitting in a closet.

I decided to cover them in moss and use them as outdoor decor. Since I already had the letters and plenty of hot glue stick refills, the whole project only cost me about $10 for the moss!

WARNING: extremely messy project! Lay down newspaper, plastic, etc. on the table that you are working on and have a vacuum near by!

Beginning stages of project
To cover the letters, all I did was hot glued large pieces of moss to each letter. The tricky part was wrapping the moss around the letter to give it the proper shape. To do this, I glued the edges and back side, then I used an old pencil to roll the moss against the letter, that way I wouldn't burn my fingers, although plenty of that did happen regardless!

Here's the end result!

B & K hung in our backyard.

Easton's Play Room

My adorable 9 month old nephew, Easton, just got a fun new play room! My sister-in-law did such a great job decorating that I had to share all the cuteness!

Easton's mom, Kayla, is so creative! She made these four prints herself! Too cute!

Check out this low hanging mirror! Easton loves to look at himself in it. Great idea!

I absolutely love the storage system for this room. The shelf is from Ikea (Expedit unit) and inside are the cutest baskets I've ever seen! They're from Target and only $9.99!

Easton loves his new room! It's paradise!

Magnetic Makeup Board

My friend called me up complaining that she didn't have ample counter space in her bathroom. After browsing through Pinterest, she told me she wanted to be crafty and make a magnetic makeup board along with a cork board for her jewelry. The moment she said "crafty" I was in!

Here's what we used for the makeup board:
-11 x 14 frame
-11 x 14 sheet metal
-fabric
-glue gun
-small magnets

This project was so simple and turned out great! We simply covered the sheet metal with fabric, then inserted the sheet metal into the picture frame. Add a few magnets onto the back of your makeup and just like that! You're done!

The cork board was even easier! Luckily she had an old cork board that she didn't need. Using an exacto knife, we cut out a 11x14 piece, covered it in matching fabric, and popped it back into the picture frame! So easy, inexpensive, and fun! Now she has a little more counter space to get ready and some cute and functional wall decor in her bathroom!

Bathroom Makeover

My hubby and I gave our bathroom a little makeover for $50! Before we had a horribly small and high cabinet that a towel couldn't even fit into. We tore it out, added some paint, made some shelves and got a new toilet paper holder all for $50! It's such a small bathroom that we needed to make it functional but nice looking. I think it turned out well!

Before...ick!

After! Much better!

Puppy Love

After discovering puppy popsicles for our teething dog, I fell in love. Problem is, they provided about five minutes of entertainment/relief. I decided to fill up a large pot with water, carrots, and multiple dog toys and froze it. The result was a huge block of ice for Ari to play with all day long. No seriously, all day. Not only was this great for her sore little gums and mouth, but it kept her out of trouble for a good portion of the day. I will definitely continue to do this on the regular. This will also make for a great summer treat from the heat!

Lucky in Love?

Growing up, my grandparents gave all 8 of their grand kids cards for everything. No holiday passed without a card and a lotto ticket! This is my nephew's 1st Valentines day, and I've decided that I will carry on the family tradition with a card and lotto ticket for every holiday. Hopefully if he wins big, he'll remember who bought him those tickets ;)

*NEW* Reporting vs. Tattling Poster

After getting an overwhelming response from my "Tattle Jar" post, I had many e-mails asking if I could create a printable poster.  If you click on the image below and save it to your computer, you can print it on an 8x11.5 paper, then blow it up to poster size if desired.

Deal of the Day

Current obsession: COLOR! As my imaginary stylist, Brad Goreski would say, P.O.C. (Pop of color, duh!) is my current favorite thing right now. I found these fun pumps at Steve Madden, only to find a very similar, and much less costly pair at the world's most amazing store- Target! Surprisingly, they're extremely comfortable!
Steve Madden "Beasst" pump- $99

Target "Paisley Platform" -$29
